How It All Began

Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok (정명석), the founder of CGM (Christian Gospel Mission), was born on March 16, 1945, in Wolmyeongdong, South Korea, as the third child in a family of seven children. Being born in a village where the Christian gospel had not yet reached, he came to believe in Jesus when Christian missionaries shared the gospel at his elementary school and distributed free Bibles to each family. He held onto God for hope since the age of six.

The Journey

As his faith deepened, Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok started to seek Jesus even more earnestly, and from the age of thirteen, he began to converse personally with Jesus’ spirit while in deep prayer. 

Due to the extreme poverty he faced, Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok was eagerly looking forward to the Second Coming of Jesus, to be set free from his agonies.

In the Vietnam War

Having spent his entire youth following Jesus’ teaching of loving lives, Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok struggled deeply in his heart when he was enlisted for military operations in the Vietnam war on February 22, 1966. 

Despite experiencing many dangerous encounters during the war, he firmly chose not to shoot at his enemies but instead prayed to God to keep both his platoon and his enemies safe. Even when his platoon attacked the enemies, he refused to fire his weapon.

Having seen the painful suffering of war, he realized how precious it is to be alive. He felt God’s aching heart when he witnessed death around him. However, as he valued not only his own but also his enemies’ lives by sparing them, God saved him from countless near death encounters.

Even though Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok did not kill a single person, he survived two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded two medals for having saved his platoon mates.

Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok lives his life according to God’s Word and preaches the gospel to help people relate to God in their everyday lives.

To those who desperately search for the meaning of life, and to those who doubt God because they misunderstood the Bible, Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok teaches them clearly as he had learned from the Lord, giving them new hope, direction, and purpose.

The Word which he received from God teaches us clearly about ourselves, about God’s purpose for creating mankind, about faith, and about salvation.

Today, that Word is being spread not only throughout Korea but also to over seventy nations around the world.

Built Natural Temple Wolmyeongdong

Wolmyeongdong (월명동) – located in the village of Seokmakri, South Korea – is God’s Natural Temple that Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok and his disciples have been building with great dedication, love, and effort since 1989.
